Australia’s Latin America business community came together for the first time in many months at the Australia-Latin America Business Luncheon held in Perth last Thursday, November 19 at Uma Restaurant. The luncheon, which was organised by the Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC) in collaboration with the ABCC and the Australia Peru Chamber of Commerce (APCCI), featured a noteworthy speech by Vanessa Torres, CTO of mining and metals company South 32, who provided a comprehensive overview of her distinguished career in the global mining industry and several of the opportunities that have led to her current role in Perth. ALABC director Steve Hall hosted the luncheon, having managed to fly into WA after travel restrictions were lifted just days before the event, with APCCI director Flor Canning as MC. Most South American countries were well represented at the luncheon, including a number of Brazilian professionals and Australians with extensive experience in the country, including ABCC WA director Simon Tarmo. The ABCC will pursue more opportunities for similar events and collaborations in Perth in 2021. View all photos of the event HERE.
