We heard from Dr Luciano Araujo, an associate professor at the University of Sao Paulo - USP. He coordinates the interdisciplinary research group in the area of Smart Cities - Smart cities BR - with a focus on technological innovation and local economic development. For his research, he received several national and international awards in the field of computing and innovation. He is also responsible for the technological infrastructure for cloud computing at USP. During the Covind-19 pandemic, he has been dedicating to using technology to support teleworking and income generation for small businesses. Included a Q&A discussion with Fabio Bastian, ABCC director in Sydney. |

August 2 - Joint Chamber Luncheon with NSW Premier The Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP
A large contingency of Latin American diplomats and business community members including many Brazilians attended our Joint Chambers Luncheon with NSW Premier The Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP who delivered a positive account of the State’s economic growth, its record infrastructure program and how trade is beneficial to all countries. His Excellency Ambassador Sérgio Moreira Lima discussed with the Premier the need to advance further talks on a direct air route between Australia and Brazil utilizing the new International Airport in Western Sydney. Brazil is Australia’s largest trade partner in LatAm and amongst the 10 biggest economies in the world, and the ABCC is committed to fostering stronger ties with the NSW Government by continuing to present a solid case for collaboration in trade, investment, innovation, tourism and education amongst others. We thank the Ambassador and our Consul General of Brazil Amb. Sérgio Bath, Deputy Consul Joaquim Pedro Pena for joining our ABCC President Rob Grant and our ABCC directors and members who attended.
The event gathered 600 guests, including Minister for Jobs, Investment , Tourism and Western Sydney The Hon Stuart Ayres MP and was co-hosted by the Chambers of: USA, Brazil, Spain, Israel, Italy, Peru, Latin America and France.

August - Embraer New Aircraft E15-E2
The ABCC Director in NSW Fabio Bastian took part last week at the Embraer introduction of its new aircraft in Sydney E195-E2 Profit Hunter with the presence of His Exc Sergio Moreira Lima , Consul General Sérgio Bath and various engineers from the Brazilian aerospace conglomerate Embraer that manufactures commercial, military, executive and agricultural aircraft and provides aeronautical services. We thank Fábio for representing our Chamber.

JUNE 11 2019 - Brazil Agribusiness Innovation Forum SydneyThe Consulate General of Brazil with the support of the Brazilian Ministry for Foreign Relations, APEX, SOFTEX and in partnership with ABCC, ALABC and ABrBC hosted the Brazil Agribusiness Innovation Forum in Sydney on June 11.
The event included speakers from Rabobank, The Farmers Association of the State of Mato Grosso, Brazilian startups and Agribusiness companies presenting new technologies that are driving the speed of change allowing farmers to solve problems, increase productivity and profitability and build their own digital strategies. The event will create closer linkages between Australia and Brazil in the AgTech and Ag Farm sectors. Thank you to The Hon John Ajaka MLC for attending and thank you to our host Consul General Sergio Bath and his team lead by Deputy Consul Joaquim Penna for such a great initiative. |
8 April - Brazilian Modernism - Sydney
The ABCC supported the launch of “Brazilian Modernism: The Architecture Tour to Brazil”, a project by UNIK Vision to build ties between Brazil and Australia in architecture and celebrate the friendship and deep connection between our two most important architects: Harry Seidler and Oscar Niemeyer. Insightful to hear from Penelope Seidler about Harry’s visit to Brazil and the influence Niemeyer had on his early works. We would like to thank Joseph La Posta, CEO of Multicultural NSW for his support and congratulate UNIK Vision for this wonderful initiative that will foster closer relations between our countries. The project is also supported by Consulado-Geral do Brasil em Sydney , AUBRBC - Australia Brazil Business Council , ALABC Australia-Latin America Business Council

The Brazil Business Briefing and Networking hosted by the ABCC Qld, with Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and Honorary Consul of Brazil in Queensland, Valmor Morais.
Great to hear the keynote address from Lord Mayor Graham Quirk followed by a high level panel discussion with Shannon Willoughby, Executive Director of Study Queensland and representatives from the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University. Our speakers shared their insights on how this critical sector can further develop and engage the Brazilian market with our Directors Anna White and Valeria Noleto and Vice President Rodrigo de Luca. |
2 March - Fashions of Multicultural Australia FOMA Sydney
ABCC Australia Brazil Chamber of Commerce, represented by our Director Evelyne Wilton was at Fashions of Multicultural Australia (FOMA) last night to attend their annual exhibition and runway event which showcased 30 different cultures. Congratulations to Sonia Gandhi for an incredible event which is supported by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Korean Foundation. Special thank you to our Vice President Cristina Talacko who assisted in inviting the Consulate General of Brazil being part of FOMA which will be an annual event from now and a great opportunity to promote Brazil. So we congratulate the Consulate General of Brazil with the Consul General Sergio Bath , his wife Rosana and his team with Margaret Braga for their participation and Kudos to Monica Rodrigues Sweeney from Fineline Marketing, an ABCC member, for her creative design on the Brazil Pavillion. Finally it was great to see the Hon Scott Farlow MLC, representing the Premier of NSW showing his support. Overall a great night filled with diversity, creativity, a true Australian cultural event
