On November 24 the ABCC was delighted to host a webinar on Brazil’s landscape for investment with the Honorary Consul of Australia in Rio de Janeiro and founding member of the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC) Mr Ronaldo Veirano and Mr Marcos Ludwig, partner at Veirano Advogados. The webinar focussed on the opportunities for PPPs in infrastructure projects as ports & airports, roads, energy, waste and water management and more.

The Brazilian Development Bank (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social - BNDES) launches, on November 18, its Projects Hub. This is a new internet platform to facilitate the connection between national and international long-term capital investors and give direct access to information about the projects conducted by BNDES.

COALAR (The Council on Australia Latin America Relations) has opened a new round of grants, with a closing date of 18:00 ADST, 23 December.  Visit the grant page HERE.

The Special Grant Round has the theme of ‘Economic Recovery’ and will support innovative activities that use digital technologies to strengthen relationships between Australia and Latin America and contribute to COVID-19 economic recovery. Australia’s Latin America business community came together for the first time in many months at the Australia-Latin America Business Luncheon held in Perth last Thursday, November 19 at Uma Restaurant. The luncheon, which was organised by the Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC) in collaboration with the ABCC and the Australia Peru Chamber of Commerce (APCCI), featured a noteworthy speech by Vanessa Torres, CTO of mining and metals company South 32, who provided a comprehensive overview of her distinguished career in the global mining industry and several of the opportunities that have led to her current role in Perth.

"Investors from all corners of the world will present their bets during a Brazilian electric power transmission auction on December 17 amid high expectations and anxiety on the part of local authorities. It will be the first of five auctions in the energy sector scheduled until late 2022 that together should inject a total of $5.2 billion direct investment into the country's infrastructure."
