Australia’s Latin America business community came together for the first time in many months at the Australia-Latin America Business Luncheon held in Perth last Thursday, November 19 at Uma Restaurant. The luncheon, which was organised by the Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC) in collaboration with the ABCC and the Australia Peru Chamber of Commerce (APCCI), featured a noteworthy speech by Vanessa Torres, CTO of mining and metals company South 32, who provided a comprehensive overview of her distinguished career in the global mining industry and several of the opportunities that have led to her current role in Perth.

The Brazilian government has launched its new "Mining and Development Program", featuring a range of changes for the sector. Much of the focus is on opening up the country for more geological research and reducing bureaucracy, which will be welcome news for the many Australian miners working in Brazil.
