With the growing digitisation of the international economy, greater importance is given to information authentication services that can ensure transactions carried out digitally are secure and reliable. In recognition of this, MERCOSUR Member States reached, in 2019, an Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Digital Signature Certificates establishing an international standard for digital signatures within the block, with the possibility of other States and economic blocks joining as well. See below for full details.
