With the growing digitisation of the international economy, greater importance is given to information authentication services that can ensure transactions carried out digitally are secure and reliable. In recognition of this, MERCOSUR Member States reached, in 2019, an Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Digital Signature Certificates establishing an international standard for digital signatures within the block, with the possibility of other States and economic blocks joining as well. September 22-23, 2021 Focused primarily on the MERCOSUR Member States, this online event will be open to the participation of MERCOSUR Associated States as well as other countries in the region or outside of it, such as members of the Pacific Alliance and the European Union. The Forum will feature speakers and participants from various countries, aiming at broadening the debate on the use of digital signatures in different economic and social contexts. The event will address the technical and legal perspectives of digital signature certificates (public key infrastructures) and its potential uses and applications. Technical topics include post-quantum algorithms, signature standards, digital identification, and privacy. Furthermore, the event will enable networking and the exchange of experiences and best practices among certifying authorities from different countries and cryptography specialists.
